Browns Place WR Miles Austin On IR

CBS Cleveland

BEREA (92.3 The Fan) – The Cleveland Browns placed receiver Miles Austin on injured reserve Wednesday.

Austin remains hospitalized in Buffalo after sustaining a kidney injury in Sunday’s 26-10 loss to the Bills. Head coach Mike Pettine said it is for precautionary reasons but Austin will not return to the field this year.

“Our thoughts are with him and we wish him a speedy recovery,” Pettine said. “Miles is a guy who embodies what ‘Play like a Brown’ means and instills that in our receiving corps.”

Austin was second on the team in catches (47), yards (568) and T-2nd in TD receptions (2) following Sunday’s game.

Mike Garafolo: ‘AP Won’t Be Back On Field This Year’

The John Feinstein Show - CBS Sports Radio

Disgraced Minnesota running back Adrian Peterson, who has missed the Vikings’ last 11 games with pay while on the commissioner’s exempt list, is making his case for reinstatement by the NFL. While the arbitrator’s decision could come within the next week or so, it is unlikely that Peterson plays another down this season.

“Oh, yeah,” FOX Sports 1 NFL insider Mike Garafolo said on The John Feinstein Show. “I mean, look, this isn’t even really about whether he gets back on the field this season. And nobody really knows this for sure, but let’s say (arbitrator and former NFL executive vice president of labor relations) Harold Henderson says, ‘I’m just going to whack this suspension and you’re back immediately,’ or, ‘Let me trim it by three games’ or whatever it is; there’s still the matter of the commissioner’s exempt list.”

Indeed, right now, Peterson is suspended. Even if the suspension…

Brian Hoyer To Start For Browns Against Colts

98.5 WNCX

Brian Hoyer will keep his starting job – at least for another week.

The team made the announcement 40 minutes prior to Browns head coach Mike Pettine’s press conference.

“After thorough evaluation and talking to the staff, we feel Brian gives us the best opportunity to win on Sunday,” Pettine said. “This is a football decision and those are always going to be based on what we think is best for our team. Brian has led our team to a 7-5 record.

“I’m confident that we can get the entire offense playing at the level needed to accomplish the goals we set at the beginning of the season. Those goals are still very much attainable.”

Hoyer was pulled early in the fourth quarter after throwing his second interception of the game and fifth in 2 weeks. Since a 31-10 win over the Steelers on Oct. 12, Hoyer has thrown 9…

Survey says!: How 50 Redskins fans feel about Jay Gruden, RGIII, the chances of winning a Super Bowl, and more

Barely In Bounds

As I sat on my couch this past Sunday, watching Andrew Luck throw deep ball after deep ball to completely uncovered receivers, I realized that I had never felt so hopeless as a Redskins fan.

The game was disheartening and ugly, and it caused fans and analysts alike to question just about everything about the organization: Was it right to make a change at the quarterback position? Should there be changes on the coaching staff? Does Gruden even deserve another year? And will things ever get better?

With all these questions floating around, I decided to create a survey that covered various issues related to the team, in an attempt to illustrate how the fan base was feeling as a whole.
